Recording Booth - Entry 6

Day 13

I was finally able to get the internal bracing put on the walls of the booth. I actually cut a couple of 2x4s to 2' long so that the spacing was a snap. I just stood the 2x4s on end on one cross beam so that I just had to put the next cross beam in and screw it in. Hardly any measuring needed this way.

I also roughed out the area for the window. I didn't like where the plans had me placing the window, so I actually tried to center it on one of long walls. It is just slightly off-center because of where the
2x4 that connects the 2 pieces of a long wall is located but it is close enough.

I then took the booth apart and painted all of the wall's interior studs. Since I'm on paint, I didn't like the way the paint looked after painting the door and wall. It really had more of a blue color than gray. So I took the paint back to Lowe's and had them replace it with a color that was definitely gray. It turned out to be a good thing actually because when I took the paint back I was told that the paint I had was not mixed correctly and it was a blue color rather than gray. There's actually a lot longer story here about how they couldn't guarantee me a gray color (which for the life of me I can't understand) but I won't go into it but rather just say I am very happy with the gray color that I ultimately ended up getting. So if you notice the color of the walls now as opposed to the earlier pics I posted you will see the difference.
My next step is to carpet all of the walls. After I finish that I will rough out the electrical, install the lights I have for the booth, install the acoustic foam and then finish the ventilation system. I'm hoping with a huge push this week that maybe I can have it finished by this coming weekend.
