Recording Booth - Entry 4

Day 9

Tonight, I decided to go ahead and paint the portion of the top unit that needed it. The color turned out to be a little more blue than I originally thought but I think it will look good once it is all put together.
Painted top (in the unpainted areas is where the foam will fit in)

Ventilation pre-cuts
I also decided to go ahead and begin work on the ventilation system. After re watching the DVDs, I noticed that it would benefit me to have the ventilation system done ahead of time. So that I can mark where on the actual booth it will fit. So as you can see from my other picture, I began by cutting out the frame. I did not start the assembly because I need to cut down the 1.5x3s that I got from Lowes.

I will take a moment and admit that I made my first cutting mistake. From what I gather this is a very common mistake (which can be costly). Instead of cutting the sides of the ventilation system to 39", mistakenly cut them to 36", so my ventilation system will not be as big as the ones in the plan. I decided just to stick with my 36" Instead of having to purchase another sheet of MDF to correct this. The only drawback is that I have to adjust my other cuts accordingly. This is no big deal but just a reminder to those who follow - "Measure twice, Cut once!"
