Have you ever gone to another country where you didn’t speak their language and tried to talk to them? Yeah sure, you could have downloaded an app to reference on your smartphone so you could get the main points across, or gesture with your hands to describe what you’re saying, but really, that’s not a conversation LOL. Sometimes, I feel like this when I’m writing a song. I have been singing forever, but never really tried to learn an instrument.
Soooo… one night at about 9:30 p.m., I decided, “I’m going to learn guitar!” Naturally, the next step is to get a guitar. So when I got home that night, I went on CraigsList (amazing site) and starting searching. At 9:59 p.m., a post appeared. Someone listed their guitar, case and stand, only 10 miles from me for only $40! I immediately messaged them. The next day, I had my Yamaha F04! Okay, that was pretty easy J Luckily, we had songwriting camp at the OC Hit Factory that weekend, and my friend Parker Hernandez (amazing guitarist) restrung my guitar for me. (Thanks again buddy!)
Okay, now it was time for the hard part… actually learning the guitar hahaha. I’ve been using, “Complete Guitar Course” (the book comes with CD’s, DVD’s & online help). Very user friendly :)After a few weeks of practicing a little bit each day, my finger tips don't hurt anymore, but are rather numb... LOL... no pain, no gain.
So far, I’ve learned parts of the guitar, positioning, tuning, strumming, changing time, and how to read a chord boxes, and the following chords: A, D, E, G, C, A minor, E minor, D7, E7, A7.
